Group Fitness Policies and Procedures

Purchase Passes

Group Fitness Passes are no longer needed as of 4/29/24.

To attend a Campus Recreation Group Fitness class, please arrive to the designated location 5-10 minutes before the class’ start time. Then fill out this short Google Form to check-in.

Class Schedule & Locations

The class schedule is posted on our Group Fitness page.

Classes are typically held in Studio A (main entrance level) and Studio B (mezzanine level) at Yates Field House. On certain occasions, classes may also be held outside on Kehoe Field (top of the building).

Initial Entry

A Group Fitness pass is required for entry into all classes. No exceptions. For safety considerations, classes will be limited based on space and the availability of equipment. Bring plenty of water to each class. Other beverages and food are not permitted.

Minors

Patrons under the age of 16 are not permitted to participate in Group Fitness classes.

Participating in Classes

Work out at an intensity that is comfortable for your fitness level. Classes are not a competition — please work towards your own personal goals.

10-Minute Policy

Due to safety reasons, as well as ensuring all participants have an uninterrupted experience, admittance may not be granted to anyone 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.

Injuries and Modifications

If you have any injuries or need a modification for an exercise, please talk to your instructor before class begins and let them know of any restrictions. They will be glad to assist you.

Footwear

Proper footwear is required during fitness classes. This includes closed-toe, closed-heel, non-marking athletic shoes. Five-finger shoes, boots, or sandals are not permitted. The only exception is for mind/body classes such as Yoga and Pilates.

Space Usage

  • Audio equipment is for instructor use only.
  • Fitness equipment should be used for its intended purpose and must remain in the studio.
  • Small bags may be kept in the studio around the walls as long as they do not interfere with the workout space. Securing personal items in lockers is strongly encouraged. Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • The instructor reserves the right to ask a participant to leave if policies are not followed.

Cancellation Policy

In the event that there are no participants by the time class begins, the instructor will wait 10-minutes before canceling the class. The Fitness & Wellness Program reserves the right to cancel any class that has fewer than five (5) participants for three (3) consecutive weeks.

Please ask your instructor about any special events or announcements before or after class. You can also check out the homepage of our website to stay up to date with all Campus Recreation events: recreation.georgetown.edu or our social media channels (@GUCampusRec).
