Fall 2022 Group Fitness Class Descriptions
The Group Fitness Program at Yates Field House strives to decrease barriers by ensuring classes are relevant and programmatically accessible for participants of all fitness abilities and levels. Please refer to our list of class descriptions below for more information on our scheduled programs.
Barre is a fusion of yoga, Pilates, strength training, and ballet. Barre classes incorporate specific sequencing patterns and isometric movements that target specific muscle groups. This pattern of exercise helps to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and posture.
In this slower-paced class, stunts will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step instruction and demonstration. There will be a focus on developing clear and safe alignment in foundations poses while introducing the history of yoga, yoga philosophy, fundamental principles of alignment, and breath work in a welcoming and supportive environment. This class is designed for students brand new to yoga, but experienced students are encouraged to attend to reinforce the foundations. Several modifications will be offered so students can choose to challenge themselves in safe and exciting ways with options for gradually building up to more challenging poses.
CARDIO STRENGTH CORE (CSC)
CSC utilizes interval circuits to help you build your muscular endurance, strength, flexibility, and cardiorespiratory endurance. Anyone is welcome!
This class offers core-focused, full-body mobility and strength work practice with an emphasis on proper breathing mechanics and core activation.
Practice mindfulness and breath work techniques while building your flexibility and strength. Work through traditional postures and learn proper alignment while also exploring unique and fun variations. This class is open to all levels!
An energetic form of Yoga where you will flow from pose to pose while connecting your breath to movement. This class will help you build strength, flexibility, balance, and mental stamina.
This slow and gentle class will allow you to rest and reduce stress levels with long holds in relaxing and supported postures. As your body relaxes more and more, we will utilize various meditation techniques including breath work and visualization to allow for further relaxation.
A HIIT workout with every cardio and muscle conditioning move synched to the beat! Strong45 is an express version of Strong Nation, a body weight workout for all fitness levels. Skip the reps and kickstart your morning with this high intensity workout!
Set to Latin and international music, Zumba combines salsa, bachata, reggaeton, belly dance, and hip-hop moves to create a dynamic, full-body workout. Expect a mix of low-intensity and high-intensity exercises for a challenging, fun-filled party!
