Karina Adams

Karina has been swimming competitively for 12 years. This is her third consecutive year serving as a swim instructor/coach. Karina has instructed both competitive swimmers and new swimmers looking to learn the skill. Her favorite thing about instructing is seeing her swimmer’s reaction to reaching a goal/milestone.

Isabel Claus
Isabel is a sophomore in the School of Nursing. She has been competitively swimming since she was five years old and has been teaching group and private lessons for five years.

Danielle Coyne

Danielle is an undergraduate student studying biology at Georgetown who has been teaching swim lessons for five years. She has experience with both group and private lessons, ranging from beginners learning to be comfortable in the water to competitive swimmers looking to improve their times. Her favorite thing about teaching lessons is seeing people learn to love the water!

Madeline Erickson
Madeline has been teaching group swim lessons for 4 years and private swim lessons for 3 years. Over this time she has come to love helping people develop their swimming skills!

Hayley Hamza

Hayley has been a swim coach and instructor for 11 years, even getting to coach a swimmer at the US Olympic Trials in 2021! She was a competitive swimmer for 16 years and graduated from UCSD as the school record holder in the mile. Hayley loves teaching swimming because it allows her to stay connected to the sport that has meant so much to her, and it’s a skill that she believes everyone should have.

Sara Lignell
Sara has taught group and private lessons for 3 years, and has been a lifeguard for 4! She enjoys guiding her students towards achieving their goals in the water!

Fernando Andres Martin

Fernando is a Georgetown graduate student and an ex-distance and open water swimmer. His previous instructor experiences range from giving private lessons in Spain for four years, to giving group lessons here at Georgetown. His favorite thing about being an instructor is the feeling that he is giving back to the sport that has given him so many good moments and experiences.

Walker McCarthy
Walker is a first-year in the College studying History and Statistics. He has been swimming and playing water polo since he was five. At Georgetown, Walker is on the Varsity Sailing team and plays club water polo. He has worked for more than four years as a swimming and sailing instructor for toddlers, teenagers, and adults.
Maureen Schwarz

Maureen is coming up on her fifth year teaching swim lessons! She loves teaching all ages and skill levels. Maureen was a swimmer for 12 years, and loves to share that with others!
