Registration for Session III (beginning March 19, 2017) is now open. Registration for Session II is closed. To register, please download and complete the Children's Swim Lessons registration packet, linked below. One packet per child must be completed.
There are three options to submit the registration packet once it has been filled out:
- Turn in the completed form to the Yates Field House Main Office during business hours.
- Email the completed form to email@example.com
- Fax the completed form to 202-687-2405
If you choose to email or fax the packet, you must call the Yates Field House Main Office at 202-687-2400 to provide credit card information. Please wait at least one business day after submitting your packet before calling.
Registration is not complete until the packet is completed by the participant (or participant's parent/guardian), the packet has been received by Yates Field House, and the payment has been processed in the Yates Field House Main Office.

Class Descriptions & FAQs
Parent/Tot: Ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 years | 11:00am - 11:35am
This class is designed for children who have had no previous lessons and are not comfortable separating from their parents. Skills taught with parents include face submersion, blowing bubbles, underwater reach, combined limb movement with bubbles, jumping entrance, assisted back kick, and assisted back float. Maximum enrollment: 12*
Hoya I: Ages 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 years | 11:00am - 11:35am
Hoya I is now full for Sessions II and III. Classes will resume in Fall 2017.
This class is designed for children who have had some lessons previously and are comfortable separating from their parents. Children will divide into groups based on their ability. Skills learned will include expanding on fundamental aquatic locomotion, pushing off the wall, complete submersion, kicking with floatation device, back glide and back float, combined arm movement. Maximum enrollment: 12
Hoya II: Ages 4 1/2 up to 6 years | 11:40am - 12:25pm
Hoya II is now full for Sessions II and III. Classes will resume in Fall 2017.
The swimmers are broken up into groups based on their ability, and work with instructors to enhance current skills and introduce new strokes and skills. Students will begin combining skills to form coordinated swimming strokes, back float, swim two body lengths, full submersion, open eyes underwater. Develop confidence and endurance in various strokes. Maximum enrollment: 12
Hoya III: Ages 6 -7 years | 11:40am - 12:25pm
The swimmers will be broken up into groups based on their ability and work with instructors to enhance current skills. Students will learn how to better coordinate front and back crawl, beginning breaststroke, streamline glide and fundamentals of treading water. Maximum enrollment: 12
Hoya IV: Ages 8 - 10 years | 12:30pm - 1:15pm
The swimmers will be broken into groups based on their ability and work with instructors to enhance current skills. Swimmers will learn how to swim each stroke (front and back crawl and breaststroke) 100 yards without stopping and be introduced to butterfly. Treading water and basic diving. Maximum enrollment: 18
The majority of our instructors are Red Cross WSI certified and are Georgetown University students. We strive to have a 4-1 student/teacher ratio.
The McCarthy pool at Georgetown is an 8 lane 25 yard pool with a minimum depth of 3 1/2 feet and average pool temperature of 82 degrees. All non-members will be issued a non-member program class pass that will be need to bring to each class to gain access to the facility.
Please sign up in the Main Office of Yates Field House or by calling 202-687-2400. The office is open from 9am-7pm weekdays and 9am -1pm on weekends.
Must cancel PRIOR TO start of session in order to receive full refund. NO refunds will be issued after first lesson. No make-up or pro-rating for classes missed.
Once a course is full, a waitlist is opened. Those on the waitlist will be contacted in order if a space becomes available due to participant cancellation.
